It’s been a long weekend and I have a lot of catching up to do, so this will be a short summary post.  For those who read my last Manic Monday post, you know that my weekends are spent supporting SO’s son at his football games.

Well I am excited to announce that his team is 2-0 this season and I am looking forward to his next game.  Not only did they win, but he recorded 3 sacks (which is huge) in the first half of play.  And for him it’s an extra bonus because we have an agreement that for every sack he makes, I’ll buy him a cheesecake.  Just a little incentive I figured would give him that extra push to do well (lol!).

Unfortunately, once again, I don’t have any video or pictures to post because the dvd’s I purchased were not compatible with my camcorder.  Why that is I have no idea, especially since I took the camcorder with me to BestBuy specifically to prevent this problem from occurring.  Needless to say we had a great time!

As for upcoming events, I will be posting my first “Women in Business” interview with Iris Kirkwood, the woman behind http://www.imkirkwood.etsy.com.  She creates visual narratives (focusing on African-American children and animals) and her artwork has been featured in galleries and juried art shows.  To learn more about her and her business, tune in this week for my featured post.

With the excitement of the weekend slowly wearing down, and a pile of work calling my name, I’m quite aware that the beginning of the work week has finally arrived.  As a way to keep myself organized and my readers informed, I’ve created what I like to call:  Manic Mondays

Every Monday I will be posting a weekend update, (a simple recap of my weekend and all the fun I had…lol!),  an upcoming events schedule, (everything I’ll be focusing on during the week), and a rave review (all about the products I love to use).

So to kick things off, here’s an update of how my weekend went:

It’s officially football season, and in Texas, that’s as big as it gets!  Although I wouldn’t call myself a huge football fan, I have become an avid watcher thanks to my SO.  His son, who is a freshman in high school this year, just so happens to be good at football (that is, good enough to not only make the varsity team, but to also start on the defensive line, which had only been done once before in the schools history, back in 1977).

So as you can imagine, with his first game being played this past weekend, we we’re extremely excited to watch him etch his name into the history books.  So excited that in the process of getting t-shirts made, calling all of our friends and finding someone to watch my kids, we forgot to buy a blank dvd for the video camera.  Fortunately enough, this was the high school game of the week, so it was broadcast on our local high school sports channel, which meant I was able to dvr it (thank goodness for dvr…lol!).

Despite a few mishaps, I did manage to take lots of pictures, watch an entire game of high school football (something I can actually say I’ve never done before), learn more about football in a day than I would have ever known in my lifetime (like there’s a coach for every position, some kids play on both offense and defense, and DE stands for defensive end…lol!).  Needless to say, he played exceptionally well, and of course, we won (41-25)!

Can’t wait to see what happens this weekend, and I promise I won’t forget to video tape it..lol!

Okay, so if the title doesn’t explain it well enough, let me be the first to say how excited I am to have won my very first giveaway!

A few weeks ago I ran across a giveaway for a pair of See Kai Run shoes hosted by Brandon’s mom over at Babybix. All of their shoes are just so adorable I couldn’t resist, so I had to enter, and blog, and tweet about it! Little did I know, that only a short time later, I would be receiving an email confirming that I was the winner (yay for me!). Below is a picture of the shoes I chose (okay, so they’re different from the ones I originally blogged about, but just as adorable!).

Now you can only imagine what a boost this has given me, and how many new giveaways I’ve entered since then! I truly believe this has become my new addiction.

But wait, this post is not just about me and all of my great fortune, lol! After recently viewing their site (See Kai Run), I discovered that not only are all of their shoes absolutely adorable, but that they are giving away a season’s worth of them. What a deal! And if you missed my first post, let me repeat it, “A girl can never have too many pairs of shoes”.

So for the love of everything shoe related, go check out their site, and don’t forget to enter this fabulous giveaway!

Although I’m still considered a newbie when it comes to digital scrapbooking, I am definitely a huge fan! I’ve browsed tons of scrapbooking sites, bookmarked all of my favorite designers, and even bought a few kits for later. So when I ran across this site I just had to share.

Bobbie, from “The Girl Indie Blog” and “The Nifty Studio“, has teamed up with her brother to create a new digital scrapbooking app for the iPhone and iTouch. Digital scrapbooking on the go, is there anything you can’t do with technology? They expect to launch this app in a couple of weeks, but until then you can get updates by clicking on the banner above, and while you’re here, you can check out their demonstration video below.

I would love to hear what everyone thinks about this app, even if you don’t have an iPhone or iTouch (like me). I just find it all fascinating, and I can’t even imagine the different technological changes that will occur by the time my children reach high school.

For the last couple of weeks I have been debating over whether or not to get a Wii for the family,
but after a little research, I’ve decided it would benefit us all. I found this video I thought would be great to share with anyone interested in buying a Wii, and I will definitely be starting my own 30 day challenge as soon as I make the big purchase.

Which brings me to the reason I created this post in the first place. I ran across Crystals’ blog, Simply Being Mommy, and she is giving away a copy of EA Sports Active. As the mother of 2 very energetic children, and the owner of 2 businesses, I rarely find time for myself, let alone enough time to get to the gym, so I would really love to win this giveaway.

For details on how you can enter, please visit her blog at Simply Being Mommy and join in on the fun! And for double the fun, you can visit her husbands blog Daddy Digest to enter as well.

I found this great giveaway over at babybix.com for a pair of “see kai run” baby shoes valued at $40.00. As the mother of a two year old girl, I firmly believe that she can never have too many pairs of shoes.

So after checking out their website seekairun.com for myself, I fell in love with the
“Celeste” shoes pictured above. For me it was the color combination that grabbed my attention first, and of course who doesn’t love the mary jane style itself.

If you are interested in entering this giveaway, then head on over to babybix.com, sign up, and tell her Chi Chi Designs It sent you!
