Everyone has them but most get lost in translation over the course of time. I personally have not had a new years resolution since before the birth of my children (just wasn’t motivated enough to give it any thought I guess). So here we are, fresh into the new year, and I’ve decided to give it some thought. What I came up with is a list of very achievable goals I would like to complete before the end of this year.

My 2010 New Years Resolutions

  1. Attend church regularly
  2. Create and follow a daily schedule
  3. Lose 40 lbs. before my 30th birthday
  4. Teach my son how to read
  5. Get organized
  6. Create a budget and stick to it
  7. Blog regularly
  8. Plan and cook at least 3 nutritious meals a week
  9. Find time for myself
  10. Find inexpensive and creative activities for me and the kids to do on the weekends

I’m sure I will be adding to this list before it’s all said and done, but for now these are the most important things I would like to accomplish this year.

Okay, so even though we are already 22 days into the new year, it’s never too late to make a fresh start.  I have been absent from the blogging world for over a month now (dealing with personal issues, preparing for the launch of my boutique and getting my life in order), but I’m back now, and I’m dedicated to making the best of it.

As you may have noticed, or not, I’ve made a few changes around here.  For starters, I made the leap from Blogger to WordPress, (woohoo) and I figured, why not give myself a makeover in the process (still working out the kinks though).    Now I am ready to jump back into the mix of things, but this time with a clearer head.

When I initially started blogging back in July of 2009, I got so caught up in trying to keep up with all of the other review and giveaway bloggers out there, that I lost focus of what I really wanted my blog to be about ( a reflection of me).  So now I am laying down my roots and starting over with a new outlook.  To get things going, I’ve laid out what I like to call:

My Blogging Goals for 2010

Immediate Goals:

  • Post at least 4 times a week (this will probably be my toughest goal to meet but with scheduled posting, I might be able to pull it off)
  • Get active in the blogging community (participate in a select few groups that meet my blogging needs)
  • Find and read 5 new blogs a week (along with my regulars)
  • Comment on at least 20 blogs a week (hopefully this will increase with time)

Long-term Goals:

  • Get my alexa traffic ranking under 100,000
  • Get a pr rank of 4 or higher by the end of this year
  • Create a steady stream of income from my blog
  • Build successful business relationships

With my goals set and my priorities in focus, I truly believe this will be a great year of triumphs, changes and success!  Happy Blogging!

So I had a few minutes to spare in between washing, folding and ironing school clothes, and with Christmas right around the corner, I’m totally in craft mode.  I was scouring the internet searching for great gift ideas for the kids, when I came across this tutorial for adult leg warmers.  I know, I know, what the heck am I going to do with leg warmers.  But they were so cute I just couldn’t resist.  And in just under 15 minutes, here’s what I created:

For me this day signifies the beginning of the holiday season.  A time spent with family and friends, enjoying the festivities, shopping, decorating and not to mention, filling our bellies with delicious treats.  The warmth and comfort that fills my spirit during the holidays makes every moment so special.

I find myself reflecting on my past, growing up in a loving environment, with a very supportive family that provided for all my wants and needs.  And in my reflection, I think back most to the holiday season, sitting around the fireplace, singing carols and counting how many presents were under the tree.  The excitement we experienced when it was time to hand out gifts, and even more excitement when it was our turn to open them.

Tomorrow, Thanksgiving Day, Americans across the country will sit down together, count our blessings, and give thanks for our families and our loved ones.

American families reflect the diversity of this great nation. No two are exactly alike, but there is a common thread they each share.

Our families are bound together through times of joy and times of grief. They shape us, support us, instill the values that guide us as individuals, and make possible all that we achieve.

So tomorrow, I’ll be giving thanks for my family — for all the wisdom, support, and love they have brought into my life.
